Hidden Corners of Baja California Sur

Our key was to find the hidden corners of Baja California Sur, but what we discovered took us by surprise and totally surpassed our expectations. These are the places that we never imagined we could find here. The best of the best, worthy of being on your bucket list:

Puerto San Carlos

This little fishing village hides the unimaginable in its bay; from late November to mid April, Gray Whales travel from Alaska to breed in these waters. Would you believe us if we told you they stick out their heads to be caressed?

Isla Coronado

What was once an active volcano in the middle of the ocean is now a magical oasis with white sand and a low-tide clear turquoise ocean. To get to this pristine beach, take a boat from Loreto and on your way stop to see the colony of sea lions.

El Mogote

A plankton heaven that attracts many Whale Sharks and the go-to place if you are interested in swimming with them. Being alongside the biggest fish ever recorded is an exhilarating/incredible experience that you’ll never forget.

La Trinidad

A town in Mulegé that holds, at the end of a beautiful canyon, some jewels from 7,000 b.C . According to our tour guide, some of these cave paintings belonged to the Paleolithic era and others to the Neolithic era.

Playa El Requesón

Bahía Concepción is filled with incredible secluded, off the road beaches. But, Playa El Requesón is by far the best and the less crowded. Just drive north from Loreto on the Transpeninsular Highway and follow the signs.

Cabo Pulmo

The highlight of Los Cabos, a Natural World Heritage Site and the perfect spot to snorkel. You’ll be able to see the only coral reef in the Gulf of California, a school of jureles and have a chance to swim with sea lions and turtles.

Balandra

The best beach in Baja California Sur. Its waist-height sea level (I’m 1.60m) allows you to walk the entire bay. Don’t forget to go all the way to the mushroom rock formation; the view from there is wonderful.
