In the past 10 years there’s been a boom in the Mexican design industry. Tons of entrepreneurs making their way from local bazaars to e-commerce or physical shops, and many of them incorporating traditional textiles or symbols to represent our culture. This is the first entry to some of our favorite Mexican designers:
Maka México
Three talented women that decided to incorporate traditional textiles from different communities in Chiapas, Oaxaca and Campeche into modern accessories: bags, passport holders, wallets and more. This particular bag, for example, was made by the Nachig community in the central area of Chiapas, very well-known for their embroidery.
The beautiful girls at Maka México have given you guys a 10% discount (available from April 12 to May 12) in their online store. For international purchases, just send them an e-mail and they’ll calculate the shipping cost. Discount code: HIDDENCORNERS

Tanya Moss
Tanya Moss is a very important figure in the Mexican design industry, and although all her collections are gorgeous, her recent one called ‘Mexicanized’ has been the best one yet. Tons of symbols that represent our culture and traditions: a catrina, a luchador mask, a Mexican doll –like the giant one that has been touring around the world–, a hummingbird, etc. ¡They’re just perfect! Had never been this excited about a jewelry release before…

Someone Somewhere
We discovered them in a Mexican designers bazaar, then visited one the communities they work with in Puebla and fell in love with the whole brand. Modern clothing with a touch of Mexican traditional textiles, which will hopefully prevent younger generations from loosing their local craftsmanship.

Ben & Frank
Another successful story of Mexican entrepreneurship. Their whole idea is creating fantastic, luxury glasses without making people break the bank. So, if you’d always wanted high quality prescription glasses or sunglasses, this is the place to get them. You’ll love their designs, especially if you’re into the retro vibes.
